Here’s how we began.
Alana + Kelly Design Co. was born out of a passion for supporting the custom design process and their clients. While both Alana + Kelly have their own unique experience in each industry, they saw a gap in the process. Clients were having to either outsource, or do the majority of communication between architects, interior designers, contractors, building departments, and more. This led their clients to overwhelm, decision fatigue, and stalled projects. Alana + Kelly’s unique union has created a holistic approach to the design process allowing their projects to run smoothly and efficiently for clients, like you, who don’t have the time or capacity to manage every element of their project.

BCIN Designer, Alana Nielsen
PARTNER & ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
Dipl. Architectural Technology from Loyalist College

Alana found her passion for architecture and design in high school during a residential design competition. She carried on graduating from Loyalist College with a diploma in Architectural Technology, leading her class in many ways.
With over fifteen years experience in the industry, her career has flourished with concentration on residential design and some time spent in a municipal building division.
When she's not living and breathing architecture, Alana is a wife and mom. She was born and raised in Georgetown, so she knows the best patios to hit for her favourite season, summer, and loves spending time with the family by the pool. You can catch her hiking her favourite spots with her dog & kiddos.

Kelly has loved interior design since she was a young child. She didn't know it at the time, but one day making LEGO floor plans and redecorating her room yearly (thanks Mom & Dad!) would lay the grounds for her future career in design. Kelly enrolled in the Interior Design program at Sheridan College in 2007 and has never looked back - She knew immediately this was what she was meant to do. From there, Kelly went on to work for some of the GTA's top interior design firms and trades. In 2019, Kelly was honoured to win an ARIDO Award of Merit for a project with Dana Kosich at Hiatus Design Ltd.
Kelly is a wife and mother and a bit of a type-A personality, but it supports the work she does & fuels her process in the best ways. She is a coastal girl, who loves the beach, water and finding design inspiration at these spaces.
